Kemba Walker of the Charlotte Hornets served as a guest star on Sneaker Shopping in Complex’s latest episode where he discussed being a sneakerhead.
Not a lot of people know this, but Kemba Walker is actually an avid sneakerhead. He has been a huge fan and collector of sneakers ever since his days growing up in the Bronx. He even wears a chain with the Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” designed on them. That’s how deep and serious his sneakerhead game is.
Kemba being so big into sneakers is a fact that few people know and something that he rarely gets to talk about. However, the three time NBA All Star got to talk about his unapologetic love for sneakers while Sneaker Shopping in the premiere sneaker collector series from Complex of the same name. In roaming the Flight Club in Los Angeles, he took the time to talk to Joe La Puma about his style influences and his sneaker game.
At one point, he talked about going from idolizing Michael Jordan to being apart of the Jordan Brand. “It’s a dream come true … in college, even in high school, I wore J’s. Played in J’s … one of my dreams, always, was to be signed with the Brand,” Kemba explained. “It’s a dream, man, dream come true. I’m blessed … we get all the kicks early.”
Also, as always, we got the chance to calculate the latest Sneaker Shopping guest’s price tag on sneakers during the episode and compare it to current record holder, Future. Future previously dropped over $38k on shoes. Kemba only spent $1,785.74. Which is a lot closer to the record than guests have come more recently, but still nowhere near beating that record.
