NFL legend and current Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has returned to the public eye after dealing with a health issue that kept him away from his recent public engagements. On Wednesday, the college football coach was in attendance for Big 12 media day in Frisco, Texas, and took the stage to address media members for nearly 20 minutes.

With everyone curious about the status of his health, it took two questions before Sanders shut down any inquiries about his well-being, expressing that he was there to talk about his team, not his health.

However, Sanders did make it clear that God has been good to him. While still not diving into the specifics of what he went through, he repeatedly made it clear that he’s doing wonderful, and as he has always said, he’s looking good and feeling good.

Sanders was accompanied by his good friend and former teammate, Michael Irvin, and he gave him a shoutout during one of his responses, expressing how much he loves Irvin.

Sanders repeatedly thanked Irvin for being who he is, and even got emotional, saying he could cry on the stage because of his love and appreciation for Irvin.

Irvin, who has been friends with Sanders for decades, shared a video on his social media platforms on June 11 of him visiting Sanders and joking with him.

The caption of the video read, “My Bishop always said when your love ones are dealing with any difficult issues, you must find ways to make them laugh and CHANGE THIER FREQUENCY. I love you to life and FOREVER my brother.”

That video came a day after widespread reports that Sanders was away from his Colorado football team, and spending time at his home in Canton, Texas, dealing with an unspecified health issue. While not providing many details, the NFL legend has only spoke on the situation at all two times.

The first time was on May 30, when he appeared on former NFL player Asante Samuel’s "Say What Needs To Be Said" podcast. Sanders told Samuel that he dealt with something that led to him losing 14 pounds, but he was working his way back. He then shared a post on June 11, following all the reports about his health, thanking everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

He went on to say that everything is okay, praising God for where he was at. He concluded his statement by expressing that he’s excited to eventually get back to Colorado and lead his program. Sanders said once he returns to Boulder, he’ll update the public on everything.
