LeBron James has always let it be known he’s a huge football fan, often discussing his experience as a player in high school. Recently, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar put his money where his heart is, leading a multi-million dollar investment into a fantasy football company.
Matthew Berry, a fantasy sports analyst for NBC Sports, founded a fantasy sports and gaming company named Fantasy Life, and the company recently announced the close of a $7 million funding round.
According to Awful Announcing's Sam Neumann, the raised amount was led by an investment from LRMR Ventures, the office of James and his friend and business partner, Maverick Carter. Neumann added that the company also had many other high-profile investors.
“Other notable backers include Roger Ehrenberg, David Blitzer, Larry Fitzgerald, Gerry Cardinale, Tony Khan, John Legend, Casey Wasserman,” Neumann detailed, as well as “YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley, Fortnite co-creator Donald Mustard, and Sum Ventures, which features NFL star George Kittle and Super Bowl champion Brent Celek.”

Berry previously raised $2 million for his media company back in 2023, picking up investments from Cincinnati Bengals superstars Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, as well as Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
The company is now planning to expand its platform by adding in Guillotine Leagues— a style of play with surging popularity in the fantasy world.
For Berry, who has become synonymous with fantasy football because of his work, he believes the latest investment from James and company will help Fantasy Life be the best destination for all fantasy players, and he’s honored they believe in his vision, as he outlined in a recent statement.
