Although football is a physical sport, where players violently hit each other all game, the majority of beef between players usually comes from what happens off the field, and in front of microphones. That’s why fans have seen so many feuds unfold in recent years, during this podcast era.
A back-and-forth between Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter and former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel is one of the latest feuds to emerge.
It all started with a joking moment between former NFL receiver Chad Johnson and current NFL player Travis Hunter. Johnson told Hunter he would get the best of him on 10 straight plays if they were to line up against each other right now.
Carter reacted to the quote on his "Fully Loaded" podcast with much more seriousness than the original exchange had, and went after Johnson for overrating himself. Carter then made it clear he believes Chad Johnson has no chance of ever making the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Those comments led to Samuel chiming in on his "Say What Needs To Be Said" podcast, and arguing that it’s Carter who’s actually overrated. Samuel praised the Hall of Famer for his route running and elite hands, but made the case that Carter was nothing more than a possession receiver.

Of course, Carter didn’t take that lightly, responding on a recent episode of his podcast. The former wideout defended his legacy by agreeing with Samuel that he was a possession receiver, but the best possession receiver to ever play the game. Carter pointed to the numbers at every level of football to support that claim.

Carter also went on to express that he wasn’t sure why Samuel was jumping in any way, when Chad Johnson is capable of defending himself. Of course, the irony of that statement could be highlighted since this all started with Carter inserting himself in another situation.
Nevertheless, Johnson didn’t seem all that interested in defending himself, taking the high road with a social media post saying when a legend speaks, you listen.
While Johnson won’t be engaging, Carter and Samuel will seemingly send enough comments back and forth for everyone.
