NFL player Dallas Turner, who is preparing for his second year with the Minnesota Vikings, was recently the victim of a scam that cost him $240,000. The 22-year old football player has since been taking all legal avenues to identify the scammers and get his money back.
According to court records, Turner received a phone call on February 19 from someone pretending to be a banker for JP Morgan Chase, Turner’s bank. The scammer convinced Turner that someone was trying to impersonate him at a Chase Bank in Arizona, and to prevent his money from being withdrawn, Turner needed to transfer his money to different business accounts.
The young NFL player obliged, immediately heading to two different Chase banks and transferring $120,000 each to what he later learned were fraudulent business accounts. Turner reportedly didn’t think anything of it until he discussed the situation with a relative, with them letting him know he was likely the victim of a scam.
That’s when Turner went to the police, in hopes of reversing the recent events. The Minnesota Star Tribune has reported that the police have already identified suspects and are close to filing charges. It’s also reported that less than $2,500 has already been recovered.

Turner, who was drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and is currently entering the second year of a four-year, $15.77 million contract, hasn’t made any public comments about the situation, and neither has his lawyer nor the Vikings.
However, Turner’s current teammate in Minnesota, Jonathan Greenard, did chime in on social media, simply saying that’s not how the situation went down, with a handful of laughing emojis as well. Whatever the case, the truth may eventually reveal itself.

The young defender will probably want this all resolved before he returns to training camp in a couple of weeks. After a rookie season with 20 tackles, three sacks, and an interception, he’s hoping to take his game to another level in 2025. Getting everything in line off the field will certainly help with that.
