Kevin Durant signs a shoe deal with YouTube?

Okay, to say he signed a deal might be a stretch, but in an odd turn of events, Kevin Durant’s next sneaker collab will be with YouTube. Not an actual shoe brand, but with an online video platform. Odd, indeed.

At the very least, whatever deal this is or whatever you want to call this deal, at least it gives Kevin Durant something to do while recovering from his injury. As most NBA fans should know by now, Durant was already suffering a calf injury heading into the 2019 NBA Playoffs, but due to pressure to from his team to play in Game 5 of the Finals for the Golden State Warriors vs. the Toronto Raptors, KD injured his Achilles during the game. Even worse, the Warriors wound up losing the Finals anyway.

That was the last straw for Durant and the former real MVP decided to take his ball to the Brooklyn Nets with Kyrie Irving. While the beginning of the 2019-20 NBA season is right around the corner (the preseason is going on right now as we speak), it will be a while before we see KD on the court. There is a good chance we will not see KD until after the season is over, but he’ll at least be occupied with YouTube in the meantime.

The exact details of the deals suggest that the next Nike Zoom KD 12 will be made with YouTube. To highlight the collab, Nike have given the shoe a YouTube colorway with a red and white color scheme. And naturally, the colorway is named “YouTube.” It is actually not too random of a collaboration given that KD is a successful YouTube star in his own right with over 770K subscribers on the platform.

These shoes are due to drop on Oct. 26 later this month.
