Fans have been standing alongside Randy Moss throughout his health battle, and it now seems we've reached the light at the end of the tunnel.
On Tuesday, The Athletic reported that NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss is set to return to ESPN’s 'Sunday NFL Countdown' when the 2025 season starts. This is major news for Moss, who had to step away from the show late last season after a cancer diagnosis. After addressing his health, ESPN told The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand that the former wide receiver will resume his full time role in 2025.
Moss joined ESPN back in 2016, working as analyst for the network’s NFL countdown show. In December of 2024, he announced on the show that he would be stepping away as he and his family dealt with a health issue. The Hall of Famer didn’t initially give specific details, but after Larry Fitzgerald Sr., the sports reporter and father of the former Arizona Cardinals receiver, shared on social media that Moss was battling liver cancer, Moss took to Instagram live on December 13 to set the record straight.
Accompanied by his family, he revealed he underwent a procedure to address bile duct cancer. He explained that the procedure went well, and he was officially a cancer survivor. Moss made it clear that once he was back to form, he would return to his seat on the panel of NFL Countdown.
While the former receiver will be back on the show in his full-time role during the fall, his first return came on the day of the Super Bowl, where he had an emotional welcome back moment, that included a video with people like Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and Justin Jefferson celebrating his return. Moss thanked a ton of people, and admitted his journey has been hard, but credits the love and support he received for making it through.
Prior to becoming an analyst, Moss established himself as one of the greatest receivers in the history of the NFL, playing 14 years in the NFL.
