As the latest collaboration between NBA’s Kevin Durant and Nike nears its release, we think we may have found the man behind the shoe’s design: Don C.
It was not too long ago that we reported that the KD 12s were due out for a Spring 2019 release date. Now, we are learning that there is a true mastermind behind the scenes who is crafting the design for the latest Kevin Durant x Nike sneaker collaboration. That mastermind is none other than Don C.
For those who may be out of the loop, Don C is a streetwear and sneaker designer who has worked with some of the biggest shoe brands that this business has to offer, including Nike Jordan. He also happens to run his very own streetwear collection called Just Don, which has been in business ever since 2011.
Perhaps Don C’s biggest claim to fame was when he used to manage Kanye West and work as an executive for G.O.O.D. Music. Before parting ways with the founder of the Yeezy shoe brand, Don C and Ye were arrested together in 2008 for getting into a fight with the paparazzi where a pap’s camera was broken to bits.
During a recent episode of the ESPN+ original series The Boardroom, Don C said that he was “working on the KD 12, the stories that we’re telling. The sauce that I think I can add, I want to tell some stories about KD’s inspiration, things that he’s into that we can now message through the product.” He failed to specify exactly what part he played in the production of the KD 12s – we assume the design aspect – but this quote seems to hint at a further collaboration between Don C and Nike.
If nothing else, to see two powerhouses like Nike and Don C join forces is an exciting prospect that we would like to see more from in the future.
