Social Status x Jordan 6: Why You Should Care

The Social Status x Jordan 6 releases this All-Star Weekend on February 16th exclusive to Social Status Charlotte and worldwide on the 21st.

With All-Star Weekend creeping around the corner, Jordan Brand has some heat scheduled to release at the end of the Winter. On February 14th, exclusively at Social Status in Charlotte, Jordan Brand is giving homage to Jordan’s hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina and alter-ego, “The Black Cat” with the Social Status x Jordan 6.

Nike and Jordan Brand are planning a wider release on the Nike SNKRS app for those of us that won’t be in Charlotte for All-Star Weekend.

The silhouette is fitted with a black pony-hair like material, with slight nods to the Charlotte Hornets with concord purple on the lace-lock and out-sole. The Nike Air unit also looks to have a purple tint. On the heel, in black stitching we see the “Nike Air” that means so much to us all. Lastly, we see this slick snakeskin applied to the side panels.

Personally, we think $250 for these is STEEP. Jordan has been steadily increasing the prices on retro’s over the past few years. This isn’t something worth $250 in terms of wear ability.

The pony-hair and snakeskin material add a premium look, however, how many times is that going to be worn? Any rain or snow is going to do some serious damage to these materials. This seems like a shoe meant to be bought and put in a glass case. If not in a glass case, it better have been sprayed with three cans of Crep Protect.

February is a release-packed month. While the Social Status x Jordan 6’s release nationwide on the 21st, the ‘Black Infrared’ Jordan 6 drops worldwide on February 16th. The ‘Turbo Green’ Air Jordan 1 is also set to release the 15th of February. So if spending $250 on this doesn’t seem like something you’d want to do, check out some of these other FIRE releases.
