Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson recently made headlines for getting into a fight at a poker event. Of course, cameras were rolling, so footage of the altercation went viral. Now, Peterson is ready to turn that viral moment into a payday.
Once the video made its rounds, Celebrity Boxing founder Damon Feldman sent a public message to Peterson and his foe to settle their differences in the boxing ring. Both men agreed that idea was the best path forward, because they recently signed up with Feldman to have an official fight.
Celebrity Boxing hasn’t announced a date or any event details yet, but both men have signed their contracts, so a fight is on the way.
Former NFL RB Adrian Peterson agrees to official boxing match against poker rival
When Feldman initially made the offer to the two men, Peterson’s opponent, Joe "Baby Joe" Castaneda, immediately said he was down to get in the ring with the legendary running back. That means Peterson was the ultimate decision maker of whether this fight would happen or not, and he decided it would.
With seemingly everyone engaging in celebrity boxing matches these days, Peterson is no stranger to the ring.
He had a previous match with former running back Le’Veon Bell back in 2022. Peterson lost that fight via a fifth-round TKO. Now, he’s ready to step back in the ring for a second time and have his second fight with Castaneda.
The two’s first fight reportedly started over some poker trash talk, and though they’ve already traded blows, they both agree there isn’t any real bad blood. However, they aren’t going to turn down an opportunity to get a proper fight in and make some money while doing so.
Fans will be on the lookout to see when this official fight will take place.
