Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams recently was asked about her time with the Chicago Sky, and she did not hold back. During a recent episode of Stud Budz with Natisha Hiedeman, Williams slammed the Sky as an organization.
Hiedeman asked Williams, who spent the 2023 WNBA season with the Sky before joining the Lynx in 2024, "Did you like being in Chicago?" to which Williams replied, "Honestly, no."
Williams then goes into great detail about how much the Sky was lacking as a franchise. She told a story about where the Sky practiced at being a basic rec center and the team not letting the players stay the night at a hotel nearby, only renting them rooms before their games and not after. Williams also said the drive to where the Sky played was a pain for the players as well.

Circling back to the hotel aspect, Williams started cracking up after mentioning how players couldn't even stay the night at the hotel the team rented. "When you say it out loud, it sounds crazy as hell!"
"If we're tired from a game and I'm exhausted and I want to do my recovery or even if I want to just go hang out in downtown Chicago, why don't you all have me a room, bro?" Williams said. "... and then if I want to hang out, I have to pay for my hotel room."
This isn't a good look for the Sky, especially as WNBA teams have made efforts to improve their training facilities. As the league has grown, so have the expectations for what these players deserve.
Williams made it known that she has no desire to play for the Sky ever again.
"Don't nobody else in the chat ask me if I'd ever go back to Chicago, it's over with. It's over with. Until the news drop that they get a new practice facility... I would never go back to Chicago."
This isn't exactly news to those who closely follow the WNBA and would explain why so many good players have left the Sky.
With Angel Reese playing for the organization now and all of the revenue she has to bring in, one would think better things would be on the horizon for the Sky, but we'll have to wait and see if that does end up happening or the franchise continues to fumble the bag.
