The Nike Sabrina 2: Sabrina Ionescu's second signature sneaker reportedly leaked

The WNBA has been riding a wild high as of late. People are intrigued to see the influx of new female stars joining the league, on top of the already-established women making their name in the WNBA landscape. The latest WNBA Draft garnered a record-high viewership largely due to the inclusion of collegiate standouts Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, Aaliyah Edwards, and Angel Reese. Rewinding a few years, all eyes were on this Kobe Bryant protégé who entered the WNBA in 2020 — Oregon Ducks basketball product Sabrina Ionescu.

Due to Ionescu's increasing popularity, she swiftly landed a lucrative endorsement deal with Nike following her selection as the first overall pick. The brand wasted no time in promoting her as the leading figure of their women's basketball division. It took a bit of intrigue and anticipation before Nike released Ionescu's first signature sneaker in September 2023, the aptly named Nike Sabrina 1 model. The basketball and sneaker community quickly embraced Ionescu's first signature shoe, which garnered praise for its high-performance on-court and relatively casual wear-appropriate design.

In the time since its Fall 2023 debut, many color variants of the Nike Sabrina 1 have dropped, to rave reviews and solid fan interest mostly. Sabrina Ionescu is set to enter her fifth year in the WNBA as the 2024 season will begin later this week. Her first line of sneakers, the Sabrina 1s were highly praised, so it was no surprise when leaked images of the rumored Nike Sabrina 2s surfaced on social media over the weekend. Leaking the silhouette on Instagram was the @kicksdong account, which highlighted the "Cave Purple" Sabrina 2 colorway.

The Nike Sabrina 2 is sure to be another smash hit sneaker for New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu.

Echoing its predecessor's construction, the Sabrina 2 showcases a more refined aesthetic, seamlessly blending fashion with functionality. The primary color scheme featured in the design was a mix of deep purple and sleek black, highlighted by a shimmering Swoosh logo on the outer side. No specifics were provided about the technology used in the shoe, however, there were visible hints of Zoom Air cushioning branding on the sole, positioned beside Ionescu’s signature.

Launching later this summer on June 28th, the Nike Sabrina 2 “Cave Purple” is scheduled to be released for purchase through various channels including online at Nike.com, chosen Nike stores, and a handful of select third-party retailers. This sneaker is designed to include all age groups, with a starting retail price tag of $130 for adults and $100 for children.
