In just days of sales and traction from the posts made on Ye's social media accounts promoting the newest addition to the YZY footwear family, the YZY SL-01 (Yeezy Slipper), the revenue was posted by Ye himself for the sales made through YZY, including the drop of the slipper bringing in a whopping $2,339,096 in sales from 12 AM through 11:59 PM on January 13th and then another $700,000+ figure from 12 AM through 6 AM on January 14th. While the newest YZY apparel collection has been on the site, one can assume that the new footwear brought in massive numbers for the brand as Ye has developed a huge following in the sneaker world as well as clothing in general.
With the SL-01 being the second footwear drop in this new era of YZY being fully independent, fans are ecstatic to be getting new additions to their wardrobe in the form of clothing and shoes from Ye’s mind. Having full creative control and mindset when it comes to the new YZY items being released, it seems that Ye has a fully developed vision for the brand in 2025 as he wasted no time previewing a brand new shoe to the YZY roster, the YZY BULLYS - BL-01.
Being one of the more simplistic sneaker models created from the mind of Ye, the shoe offers a look that was started mainly during his time with Adidas but in a more modern, up-to-date, simplified look. The overall look of the sneaker is in full black, offering a similar bottom to the SL-01 with what looks to be an upper mix of mesh and suede. He has been seen in sneakers on feet already in late 2024 while in Japan. Finishing off the look with no shoelaces, the style looks to be taking YZY footwear in a brand new direction to go along with the independent era.
Retail pricing remains an unknown, but if the shoe finds itself landing on the YZY site, everything that has been sold under the new regime has been set at $20 per item, an idea that Ye has had for his clothing and footwear for years at this point, notably dating to his partnership with Yeezy X Gap where the idea was quality clothing at an affordable price point. If these shoes end up at or around a $20 price tag, it can be a real game changer for how footwear operates in the future and a preview of what can come for the YZY brand in 2025, something that I will be exploring more in-depth in January, stay tuned.
