While the WWE Monday Night Raw debut on Netflix was a commercial success in terms of sponsorships and greetings towards casual and lapsed fans, in terms of fashion, the main event players made sure to show out and put on their best pieces and footwear. It all started at the red carpet photoshoot as talent arrived at the Intuit Dome before the house became packed and rowdy for the night ahead.
First off, WWE Lucha legend and Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio graced the carpet entrance as the media took to his style choices for the evening. Mysterio is always known for putting something of a high standard when it comes to his fashion choices, whether it is a designer brand on his signature mask or a high-profile t-shirt. He always dresses to impress, and Monday night was no different. The Lucha Libre superstar arrived wearing a multicolored mask in full black attire featuring a t-shirt in tribute to the late, great Eddie Guerrero. Down to his sneakers, Mysterio was fully dripped out in the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, showing off a white base with a vintage red Louis Vuitton monogram layout along with gold-hitting accents. A sneaker that goes for around $5,000 on the resale market!
Mysterio was not the only one showing off some nice sneakers for the Raw debut on the most popular streaming network in the world. Former WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns took to the ring and, as he usually is, geared up in some form of Nike or Jordan Brand gear on feet, he switched it up for the premiere, showing off a bit of color for the footwear chosen. The "Tribal Chief" opened the night in terms of in-ring action following a speech from his cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, facing off against another family member in Solo Sikoa. Reigns decided to show tribute in Los Angeles by lacing up a custom pair of Kobe 9s. The pair is a white-based Kobe 9 splattered with a tribal design, his logo, and a red top coat.
As more and more stars of the squared circle begin to show off their footwear style in the ring, the more the two worlds collide. It will be interesting to see how more styles get shifted into the pro wrestling culture, how many more variants get used for in-ring attires, and, eventually, how many get used for video games or even action figure models.
