UNheardof “Grandma’s Couch 2” adidas Rivalry Low pays touching tribute

Holiday exclusives are always welcome in this household, as they just make sneakers feel as important and welcome to the world of collecting as they once were. In a time where everything feels like it is just a stream towards reselling as everyone is trying to make a quick buck by getting the next limited sneaker, the vibe of the UNheardof “Grandma’s Couch” adidas Rivalry Low feels right and does its job to disrupt the current world of sneaker culture.

The exclusive drop is set to release Mother’s Day weekend, and there seems to be no better time for the sneakers to make their way to shelves. As the third and final release with UNheardof X Adidas, the “Grandma’s Couch 2” adidas Rivalry Low pays tribute to UNheardof founder Phil Lipschutz’s grandmother, who sadly passed away last year at the age of 100. 

The new sneaker features a gum bottom and a light pink upper, along with a plethora of details set to honor the late inspiration. Featuring floral details all around the shoe, the tribute only gets better with the insole as a sketch drawing of Naomi can be seen surrounded by more flowers, as well as the adidas logo to complete the shoe. All inside of exclusive packaging with a rose gold latch and expanding what it means for regular shoebox packaging, this release goes above and beyond.

As a sneaker with so much emotion behind it and the inspiration being clear, I’m glad that the tribute is being taken care of in a way that is creative, fitting the vision of the UNheardof founder. The special pair drops on Mother’s Day weekend.
