The 2024 season was a unique one for Travis Kelce. Sure, he and the Kansas City Chiefs reached their fifth Super Bowl appearance over the past six years but it didn't feel like the kind of season we've come to know and love from Kelce.

Kelce had the lowest receiving yards of his career in 2024 and didn't look like the same electric player on the field that he had been throughout most of his NFL tenure. Sure, his relationship with Taylor Swift and the fame that has come from that could have been to blame (and many people did just that) but another factor that people thought might have hurt Kelce last year was his weight.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported last week that Chiefs and NFL fans will see a slimmer Kelce when the team begins their minicamp, noting that the tight end lost 25 pounds this offseason.

"He will debut a bit of a slimmer look. He's told people close to him that he's lost about 25 pounds this offseason," Fowler said on SportsCenter. "[Kelce] played a little heavier in 2024 was sort of a thing. He vowed to change it and he has."

Kelce was once an unstoppable weapon for the Chiefs on offense but he was not that same guy last year. Even with that being the case, the Chiefs still made it to the Super Bowl but their quest of being the first-ever team to win three straight Super Bowls ended when the Eagles absolutely demolished them in the big game.

After the confetti fell, all people could talk about regarding the Chiefs was if this was the end of the road for Kelce. Was he going to retire? Did he have anything left in the tank? He seemed like a completely different person during and directly after that game but not long after, he confirmed that he'd be returning for a 13th season in the NFL (all spent with the Chiefs).

People might be sick of Kelce and the Chiefs but as long as he's in the league (and dating the most popular superstar on the planet), the coverage of him and the team is going nowhere. If the slimmed down Kelce can play to the level he used to during his prime, the rest of the league better watch out.
