NBA superstar Ja Morant remains a player in contention with those who have the best-looking basketball sneakers on the market, yet it goes underrated among his peers and the designers they carry. Morant's style choice for his Nike hooping shoe collaboration takes more direct inspiration from a traditional basketball sneaker in contrast to the other's approach for a more stylish look that can be worn anywhere as well as on the court. In the upcoming collaboration, however, Morant looks to take that narrative and spin it to a new meaning.
The latest look will see Nike add Swarovski crystals to the hooping shoe, a signature piece in modern jewelry used to add luxury style to pieces that might not have seen the chance otherwise. This combines the look of high-end pieces with deluxe footwear in an attempt to make the traditional-looking basketball shoe more approachable and intriguing in a league full of top contenders of style.
The sneaker’s upper showcases a black mesh look mixed with suede. A golden swoosh outline is also present on the side of the sneaker to compliment the luxury look of the Swarovski crystals. Speaking of, the Swarovski crystals travel all around the shoe, adding to the overall look and taking over the side and tongue, completing the Ja Morant trademark logo with the crystals in the design.
The Swarovski x Nike Ja 2 “Black Label” launches on February 14, 2025, as a part of NBA All-Star Weekend, giving a high-end feel to top off the sneaker chasing that weekend. With a price tag of $550 USD, it is a heavy hitter on the pockets but is an exclusive grab.
