Sean Wotherspoon is leading Gap’s upcoming vintage program. The American designer has made his stamp on the world of streetwear and fashion and is looking to reinvigorate the way that mainstream sellers like Gap are marketing the future of clothing, with, ironically, a piece of the past mixed into it. Wotherspoon, who made his mark in the fashion industry by starting up and co-owning his own sneaker and streetwear shop alongside Chris Russow and Luke Fracher, managed to become a known personality in the sneaker media space and made his mark in the industry officially by collaborating with Nike and being the creative behind one of the most known Air Max models in recent memory with the Nike Air Max 1/97 ‘Sean Wotherspoon.’ Now, in 2025, Wotherspoon is looking to contribute to yet another big collaboration.
Wotherspoon is teaming up with Gap to launch the new GapVintage program which is slated to be released in seasonal drops during the course of the year. His official role with the company is the Global Vintage Curator.
The vintage market has only gained more and more interest from younger consumers in recent times. In the modern era of fashion, graphic tees are often replaced by vintage items or new tees that are being sold in a way that caters to the vintage audience. Often duplicating a piece of 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s merchandise, the way that these pieces of clothing have dominated the market is unheard of.
The new program from Wotherspoon and Gap will feature classic Gap grails of Wotherspoon’s such as the ’90s Striped Pocket T-shirt and Classic Logo Hoodie, ’80s Denim Jacket Hoodie, and ’90s Nylon Anorak Zip-Up Windbreaker. Wotherspoon is no stranger to the vintage market as his Round Two consignment shops do carry vintage items, specifically with the Chicago location having an expanded building with the second floor being fully dedicated to classic clothing.
The first GapVintage drop will become available to shop in the US on February 4 at 12 p.m. ET via the Gap site.
