You wouldn't believe the shoe size of Spurs Rising Star Victor Wembanyama

Wemby probably has a tough time finding shoes to wear on and off the court.

The first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, 7'4" Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs has been tabbed a generational talent by many fans and pundits alike. And for good reason at that, as the 20-year-old Frenchman is averaging over 20 points, ten blocks, and three assists to go with three blocks and a steal per game on route to what is expected to be a Rookie of the Year campaign.

Wembanyama's efforts as an absolute force on the court may not be the catalyst for his young Spurs team's success as of now, but at least Wemby will be recognized in the Panini Rising Stars Game during the 2024 NBA All-Star weekend.

Given the Frenchman's intimidating 7-foot-4 frame with an estimated 8-foot wingspan, a lot of you may be wondering what shoe size the Spurs' franchise talent wears. Well, be prepared to be in awe as Wemby wears a U.S. size 20.5, which converts to a European size of 55!

Victor Wembanyama's 20.5 shoe size is a testament of his gargantuan status in the NBA landscape

For comparison, NBA legend and giant in his own right Shaquille O'Neal is a true-to-size U.S. 20, however, Shaq opted to wear size 22 shoes to provide extra room for his large feet. Additionally, former Houston Rockets star Yao Ming, who was a behemoth himself standing at 7-foot-6, wore a U.S. size 18 shoe. Yao and Shaq are two of basketball's most dominant colossuses, who ironically enough wore smaller shoe sizes than the 20-year-old Wembanyama.

Wemby's choice of on-court footwear largely revolves around the Nike Air Zoom GT Run model. Of course, Wembanyama has to send in a custom order with Nike to accommodate his insanely large feet, but many have wondered why Wemby sticks to the Nike Air Zoom GT Run. With a 2.5cm heel height and 0.9cm heel-to-toe drop, the Nike Air Zoom GT Run with its 'react' sole technology provides the ability to "feel what's under you". The shoe has also been described as having a "nice lockdown on them" which for a tall-statured Wemby is all you need to keep from slipping and sliding.

Off the court, you can find Wemby rocking streetwear staples such as the Nike "Panda" Dunk Lows or the ever-so-popular all-white Nike Air Force Ones. Just hope the big fella has some orthotics in there for his feet's sake.
