If word came from the American designer himself, chances are this is Bembury's next sneaker venture with New Balance.

Renowned American fashion designer Salehe Bembury, celebrated for his expertise in footwear design at Versace, has revealed his latest collaboration with Boston-based powerhouse New Balance, teasing a new project that is expected to make waves in the sneaker and activewear world.

Bembury first collaborated alongside the New Balance banner back in 2020, with a highly-anticipated 2002R model drop in a desert-like colorway called "Peace Be the Journey". Following a series of leaks and rumors surrounding his highly anticipated next collaboration with New Balance, Bembury has taken the unconventional approach of sharing a sample of the upcoming shoe himself. In a bold move, the celebrated designer decided to address the grapevine's whispers by posting an image of the sneaker on his Instagram.

The sneaker in question happens to be a very colorful and eccentric (much to the known style and beat of Salehe Bembury's design work) New Balance 530 silhouette. The classic New Balance 530 is a retro running silhouette that originated in the early 1990s. The shoe's mesh base is treated to a vibrant highlighter yellow hue, which serves as the perfect backdrop for a delightful medley of colors. The toe tip is swathed in a rich mustard-colored shaggy suede, while the heel overlay is made from a bright, chartreuse suede.

Arguably the most eye-catching detail of this collaboration is undoubtedly the "N" logo, which has been reimagined in Salehe Bembury's signature fingerprint trademark. This unique design element adds a unique Bembury touch and personality to the shoe, making it a true showstopper.

With its bold color palette and clever design flourishes, the Salehe Bembury x New Balance 530 is sure to be a must-have for sneaker enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Funky colors courtesy of some high-profile endorsements is not out of the ordinary for the New Balance brand. Just look at Action Bronson's work with his 990v6 collaboration, which brought along the "Lapis Lazuli" and "Baklava" colorways. Or how about Jack Harlow's floral-themed 1906R design? But, things are taking a bit of a turn (in a good way that is) with a reimagined 530 silhouette. The 530 is most common for the classic "Indigo/Grey" colorway, but to see the dad shoe completely turned on its head for a whimsical and outlandish color scheme breathes some new life in a rather plain shoe. Streetwear and fashion enthusiasts alike can figure out how to style this piece when it drops, which at the time of this writing, is currently unknown aside from social media speculation.
