Sabrina Ionescu's Nike Sabrina 2 "Conductor" colorway arrives this Summer

When a WNBA superstar comes along, you know there's a special talent on your hands. That's exactly what New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu is. A protégé of the late Kobe Bryant, Sabrina Ionescu embodied the "Mamba Mentality" en route to a successful four-year collegiate career under the Oregon Ducks basketball program. Her hard work paid off in the 2020 WNBA Draft, where she was selected as the first overall pick by the Liberty.

The hype and anticipation surrounding Ionescu's entry in the WNBA largely served as the predecessor to future highly-touted newcomers Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, and projected 2025 top prospect Paige Bueckers. Before there was a Caitlin Clark, there was Sabrina Ionescu. But that's not to say Ionescu's stardom has been swept under the rug. In fact, her trend-setting appeal has earned her a very successful endorsement deal with sportswear/footwear giant Nike.

The Nike Sabrina 1 was met with rave reviews by hoopers and critics alike for keeping true to basketball shoe fundamentals, while also being stylish enough to wear off-court. Furthermore, Ionescu has paid homage to her late mentor by integrating elements of the Kobe Bryant DNA into her signature line, with the upcoming Nike Sabrina 2 being no different. Fans can anticipate the first arrival of the Nike Sabrina 2 in the "Court Vision" colorway on June 28. But July will introduce another Sabrina 2 silhouette, in a variant called the "Conductor".

The "Conductor" is a fitting name for Ionescu's shoe as that is her premier role on the New York Liberty. Leading the pack as the floor general, and knowing the right plays and motions, are all the characteristics of a conductor. The colorway itself isn't too shabby either. It's pretty toned down for a more neutral look, taking a majority cool grey with a mint greenish/blue hue, that fits the threads of the New York Liberty identity. A somewhat pebbled patterned Nike swoosh is present on the sneakers, as is Ionescu's signature scribble engraved on the sole using AirZoom technology. You also get an "S" standing for Sabrina on the tongue, while "i" for Ionescu is prominently featured on the back heels.

The Nike Sabrina 2 "Conductor" will arrive on July 12 through various channels, including the official Nike website and select Nike in-store retailers. The shoes are expected in unisex adult and GS (grade school) sizes, with an expected SRP set at $130 for adults and $100 for grade school models.
