2023 appears to be the year of the Nike Dunks. Since January, Nike has leaned in hard on the sneaker silhouette and has released several coveted pairs. The shoe purveyor has even invested in the Nike Dunk Mid, releasing four colorways since January. Things might get even more exciting for Dunk fans if recent rumors are true. Rumors are swirling that Nike is collaborating with Carhartt and Eminem to create a truly epic pair of Dunks.
Rumors of a new Eminem collaboration with Nike persist
While Rosenberg insisted it wasn't happening, if Eminem is going to collaborate with any sneaker brand for a wide release, it would likely be Nike. Aside from his longstanding relationship with the brand, Eminem is also a fan. Over the years, he's been spotted wearing some of the most beloved Nike silhouettes. He also has a penchant for more slept-on releases. While performing at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, he rocked the 2020 Fragment Design x Air Jordan 3 Retro release. Over a decade ago, he was often seen in the Air Max Wright, one of the less popular Air Max offerings.
Regardless of Rosenberg's comment, the rumors have been given new life, with fan concepts and discussions about potential apparel lines floating across social media. Still, neither Nike nor Eminem have commented directly on the rumors. If the sneakers do happen, fans hope for something much more accessible than previous Eminem collaborations.
While Eminem has worked with Nike several times, most of his shoe collaborations have been friends and family releases or unreleased samples. Highly coveted by fans and collectors, the Eminem collaborations are among the most expensive sneakers on reseller sites, and they don't pop up often. The 2006 charity collaboration between Nike and Eminem showed up on TheRealReal in March 2022 for the staggering price tag of $50,000.
For now, Eminem's fans and sneaker enthusiasts will just need to wait and see. If a wide-release collaboration happens, it will likely sell out in seconds. Stay tuned for more details.
