Usually, if you participate in a marathon, you choose a nice pair of elite performance running shoes, right? Well, notorious rap artist Lil Nas X says otherwise.

The rapper is known for his hits, "Old Town Road", "THATS WHAT I WANT", "INDUSTRY BABY", and "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)", settled for fashion over functionality when he partook in the New York City Half Marathon on March 17.

Lil Nas X, real name Montero Lamar Hill, was seen in multiple photographs from the race rocking a pair of white Coach Distressed High-Top sneakers as he completed the marathon.

Lil Nas X bucked the system and said "THATS WHAT I WANT" to his Coach High-Top sneakers for the NYC Half Marathon.

The 24-year-old rapper is not much of a running enthusiast, as he'd reportedly never run more than three miles before participating in the NYC Half Marathon, and took part in his first-ever run outdoors.

For some added context, Lil Nas X does not own a pair of running shoes, but he did attempt to find an open sneaker shop to procure a set, to no avail. Hence, his unusual decision to run in sneakers you'd see him rock on a runway, not on the cement streets.

The rapper still did alright for himself considering the odd choice of footwear, as according to the official New York Road Runners race results website, he posted a completion time of 2:32:53.

If you're feeling a little brazen to run in these jawns too, they're unfortunately sold out on the official Coach website in both the U.S. and Canada. However, for friends on the north side of the border, there are women's and men's sizes still available on the official Coach Outlet website.
