Devin Booker's First Signature Shoe, the Nike D Book 1, Finally Gets a Release Date
2015 was a big year for Devin Booker. His rookie season with the Pheonix Suns was dotted with achievements, including a deal with Nike. While Booker signed with the sneaker purveyor way back during his rookie year, movement on a signature shoe has been slow. Sure, he's worn player exclusives and worked with Nike to release special edition colorways of existing styles, but he didn't have a signature shoe. It's coming, though. Booker and Nike have finally settled on his signature sneaker, the Nike D Book 1. The official release date is fast approaching.
When will the Nike D Book 1 be released?
It's been a long time in the making, but the Nike D Book 1 release date isn't far off. The first of three colorways will be released this year. According to Sole Retriever, the first Nike D Book 1 colorway will drop during the 2023 holiday season. Nike has yet to provide a specific release date, though.
Nike and Devin Booker don't just have plans for just one release. Two more colorways are set to follow sometime in the spring. The Light Orewood Brown and the Ashen Slate colorways are expected to be released in early 2024, but again, no official release date has been announced. In fact, there is a lot about the shoe that Nike is keeping secret.
What does the Nike D Book 1 look like?
We have yet to get any information about the sneaker's design, but Booker certainly has a signature style. Since his rookie season, he's been lacing up various Nike kicks. Early on, he seemed partial to Nike Hyperdunks but transitioned into the Nike Kobe line as his career progressed. He's worn the Nike Kobe 5, the Nike Kobe 9, the Nike Kobe 10, and the Nike Kobe 11 in-game. He's also sported the Nike Kobe AD and the Nike Zoom Kobe 1 Protro sneakers on the court.
So does that mean Booker's signature shoe will have the same look? Not necessarily, but it seems possible he would have taken inspiration from the design he seems to prefer. Booker is also a huge Kobe Bryant fan, so it's possible he'd like to pay homage to the late Los Angeles Laker.
While the actual design of the shoe is being kept secret, we do know the colorways fans can expect when the sneaker is finally released. The first colorway will pay tribute to the Pheonix Suns. According to Sneaker Bar Detroit, the first colorway will have an orange theme, with the main colors of the shoe being clay, peach, and orange.
According to the publication, the second colorway will use light orewood brown as its base, with various browns and oranges mixed in. Orewood brown, a barely tan color, was seen in March 2023 on a pair of Nike Dunks. The third colorway takes things in a different direction. The third confirmed release will use ashen slate, light carbon, summit white, and safety orange to make up its colorway. Ashen slate was the main color used on a 2022 Jordan 1 low release. The blueish-grey color received mixed reviews from fans.
