Anthony Edwards' new Adidas AE 1 draws comparisons to iconic Jordan colorways

In fact, the Ant-Man was promoted to the role of "signature athlete" when he unveiled his first-ever trademark sneaker, the Adidas AE 1, described as "a futuristic design with meticulous precision, built to the specifications of Anthony Edwards." The initial colorway "With Love" made its way on the market in December 2023, with further colorways released in the time since, including the "Coral", "New Wave", and "All-Star".

But, it's an upcoming colorway of the AE 1 that has garnered attention for evoking retro Jordan vibes. At the moment, there's no definitive name given to this colorway, as they also mirror that of Anthony Edwards' Georgia Bulldogs alma mater, but their resemblance to iconic black-and-red colorways has christened the AE 1 model as "Bred".

The upcoming Adidas AE 1 "Bred" pays homage to Ant's Georgia roots, while also honoring the legacy of Jordan colorways before it.

It is kind of ironic that Anthony Edwards' new sneaker is drawing comparisons to Michael Jordan's signature kicks, as social media, basketball fans, and pundits alike have made jokes pointing at Anthony Edwards being Michael Jordan's son. Jokes aside, there's no denying Anthony Edwards' potential to become a face of the NBA moving forward, and the GOAT Michael Jordan even had words of praise for the 22-year-old, describing him as "special".

Drawing back to Ant's version of the timeless "Bred" colorway, the sneaker's design showcases a unique TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) honeycomb pattern, adding a touch of sophistication while also offering necessary structural reinforcement. The striking red toecap and TPU cage create a bold contrast with the sleek black Primeblue knit that envelops the eye stays and collar, resulting in a fierce and daring look similar to Jordan sneakers of years past.
