All Elite Wrestling to hold multiple meet and greets for Reebok collaboration release
By Gio Alvarez
As All Elite Wrestling prepares for a significant Forbidden Door pay-per-view weekend in Long Island, NY, the burgeoning pro wrestling company is seizing the abundant opportunities in 'The Big Apple'. In addition to the 3rd annual Forbidden Door event, featuring crossover matches between AEW's top stars and those from NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling), alongside groundbreaking participation from CMLL (Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre), Mexico's oldest wrestling company, AEW has arranged special release events. These events will include meet-and-greets with stars like Anna Jay, Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, John Silver, and Negative 1 (Brodie Lee Jr.) from the Dark Order stable. These celebrations commemorate the launch of the highly anticipated collaborative sneaker between Reebok and AEW, a tribute to the memory of Mr. Brodie Lee.
The promotion hosted its inaugural meet-and-greet event on Friday in Times Square, spotlighting the group under the leadership of Mr. Brodie Lee, who led the stable until his passing during his tenure with the company. Additional events are planned at selected Champs Sports retailers in New York, including one in Times Square and another on Saturday, June 29 at Roosevelt Field. This event will feature fan-favorite Orange Cassidy, who is set to face NJPW star Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door. Once again, Brodie Lee Jr. will be part of the festivities. Fans have been sharing their photos on social media using the hashtag #BrodieLeeLegacy, paying tribute and showcasing their new kicks while reminiscing about their experiences.
In conjunction with the PPV weekend, it's only fitting for release events to take place in New York, given that Brodie Lee hailed from Rochester, NY.
The sneaker pays extensive tribute to the late, great Brodie Lee, featuring nods to both the Dark Order group and Lee himself throughout the shoe. Adorned in a black and purple color scheme that aligns with the faction's aesthetic, the shoe exudes a dark aura while remaining versatile enough to complement various outfits. Fans and wrestling icons have enthusiastically shared their thoughts on the sneaker, reminiscing not only about Brodie Lee's character but also about Jon Huber, the person behind it. Doug Gilmour, a former NHL player, fondly recalled Lee's deep-rooted passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs—an homage echoed by Lee's wife, Amanda.
Fans can get their hands on the highly anticipated AEW x Reebok Classic Leather "Brodie Lee" sneakers online and at select Champs retailers, while also gearing up for an action-packed weekend of professional wrestling. This Sunday, catch the much-anticipated AEW/NJPW/CMLL Forbidden Door pay-per-view extravaganza live from the UBS Arena in Long Island.
