Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Lakers made the shocking announcement that the franchise is no longer being run by the Buss family after the team was sold for $10 billion to Mark Holder. The news generated tons of reactions from several notable NBA players, including the Lakers' own Luka Doncic.
A day after the sale was revealed, Doncic shared an incredible message on his X account expressing his excitement for Los Angeles's new ownership, while also thanking the Buss family.
"The Lakers are an amazing organization. I’m looking forward to meeting Mark and excited about the future. I am also grateful to Jeanie and the Buss family for welcoming me to LA, and I’m happy that Jeanie will continue to be involved. I look forward to working with both of them to win championships!"

Doncic was, of course, acquired by the Lakers this past February in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks that is now regarded as one of the most shocking in NBA history.
The first six seasons of his career in the league were spent with the Mavericks after they landed him in the 2018 NBA Draft. Doncic quickly developed into a superstar, and during the 2023-24 campaign, he helped lead Dallas all the way to the NBA Finals.
That run to the Finals was believed to be the start of something great for the Mavericks, so when they traded him to Los Angeles, the majority of people on the planet couldn't believe that the deal was a reality.
But the trade actually happened, and despite the Lakers getting bounced early in this season's NBA playoffs, their future is still very bright with Doncic on the roster. It probably isn't going to take long for him to help Los Angeles capture those championships that he alluded to in his message to the team's new owner.
