Rap superstar Lil Yachty has been making the rounds as he inches towards an official release for his Nike collaboration. The Lil Yachty X Nike collab will now take place hitting shelves and leaving its previous state as a "friends and family" exclusive in November. The two sides will create a Nike Air Force 1 Low sneaker named after Yachty's rap group consisting of rising stars in the rap game, "Concrete Boys".
Taking the traditional Air Force 1 look, Yachty adds his signature style with the simplicity of the classic sneaker. Keeping the white upper, the collaboration adds a navy blue trim along the sole and inside of the shoe. Yachty's known phrase "It's Us" adds a hit to the tongue as well as the insoles. Completing the new features to the iconic look is the Concrete Boys signature stickman near the heel on the side and the Concrete Boys traditional logo along the heel.
To add to the collaboration, Nike is adding a unique packaging to complete the pair. To me personally, a collab is never truly a collab without the special box and presentation so I am always excited to see Nike do this for bigger sneaker drops. It makes it more than a shoe and more of a collectors item for those who want to get a special item out of the drop. The shoe was featured at ComplexCon over the weekend with an array of reactions in person and on social media with some enjoying the simple look and hitting nostalgia with the classic original, but with some feeling there should have been more originality to the shoe similar to Travis Scott's Nike Air Force 1 Low collab.
Bimma Williams, Collab x Lab host, had a negative reaction to the look in which Yachty confronted Williams at ComplexCon while on stage during the reveal of the shoe as the two went back and forth regarding the criticism. Yachty and Bimma would go live together on Instagram to clear up the beef and show the public that it was squashed admitting the reaction was "corny".
The sneaker collaboration between Yachty and Nike will be dropping in-store and online on December 2nd, 2024 on Nike's site. Priced at $140, fans will be able to grab the shoe just in time for the holidays and possibly make a nice gift for family, friends, or even yourself.
