While Kobe Bryant never stepped onto the diamond himself in a professional setting, the 'Mamba Mentality' mindset transcends a select sport and finds itself all over the world in a plethora of scenarios. To commemorate the Black Mamba's final game on the NBA court, Kobe Brand and Nike are partnering to release a special jersey in the baseball variation to pay homage to the final game that Kobe played.
A close look at the upcoming exclusive jersey has now surfaced online in two colorways, a black version, and a white version, offering home and away variants, if you will. Both will showcase a Mamba script logo across the chest, reminiscent of the Los Angeles Dodgers lettering on their jerseys, giving a nod to LA. Sitting directly under the spell out is a Kobe logo to complete the front of the jersey. A nod is also given to both of Kobe Bryant's signature jersey numbers that graced his jersey when he played in the NBA, with eight on the sleeve and 24 as the main number shown on the back. A message reading "Thank You, Kobe, 4-13-16, Mamba Out" is seen spelled out at the bottom of the front side as well. giving an overall tribute to the legend himself. While a release date is not set for the piece yet, it would make sense for fans excited about the shirt to get their hands on the jersey near Opening Day for the MLB.
It would be a great tribute if these jerseys could be seen on the backs of the MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers during Opening Day or a game in the season dedicated to the Black Mamba, I guess we will have to stay tuned to see what happens there.
