Just like she does on the court, Sophie Cunningham is sticking up for her teammate, Caitlin Clark.

If anyone thought that Cunningham, 28, was going to hold back on her new podcast, ‘Show Me Something,’ she proved them all wrong. The Indiana Fever star—alongside her high school friend and Bravo reality TV alum, West Wilson—dropped the debut episode on July 30.

During the conversation with West, Cunningham addressed some of Clark’s critics, including those who downplay her importance to the WNBA.

Sophie Cunningham: Saying Caitlin Clark isn’t The Face of the WNBA is ‘Dumb As F—k’

"It literally pisses me off when people are like, 'She's not the face of the league,'" said Cunningham during the episode.. "We have a lot of badasses in our league, and hell yeah, I'm all for that. But when people try to argue that she's not the face of our league, or that our league would be where we're at without her, you're dumb as s--t. You're literally dumb as f--k."

Cunningham also discussed some of the treatment Clark has received from her fellow WNBA players. “You have seen players in our league try to toughen up Caitlin,” said Sophie, who joined the Fever in 2025 after six years with the Phoenix Mercury.

"Even when I wasn't on her team,” said Sophie, ”I know the talks that Phoenix had in their locker room of, like, 'We're gonna show her what the W really is.' I get it to a certain extent. Every rookie coming into the league, that's how you're going to treat them."

"But there's just more for her,” added Cunningham. “It's her second year. Now, being on her team and seeing it, I'm like, 'What are people doing?' It's just too much. I'm over it."

Cunningham’s frustrations over Clark’s treatment boiled over during a June 17 game with the Connecticut Sun. The Sun’s Jacy Sheldon poked Clark in the eye (drawing a personal foul). Sheldon and Clark scuffled, prompting Connecticut’s Marisa Mabrey to get involved and shove Clark. Things de-escalated for a moment, with fouls being handed out (but no one was ejected).

In the final minute of the game, Cunningham fouled Sheldon as the latter was going for a layup, prompting a shoving brawl between the two squads.

The Fever played the Sun again on July 15; no fights were reported. The two teams will play each other for a fourth and final time on Aug. 17.

Cunningham launched her podcast with Colin Cowherd’s The Volume. On July 31, Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, said that Cunningham first tested the show for his network (h/t Awful Announcing).

“I passed on it,” he said, citing how he thought Barstool would be “carrying so much of the weight, marketing, all this sh-t. And her focus wasn’t going to be the podcast. It was just one amongst 9,000 things she was doing, so it felt like we were getting screwed.”

Portnoy also said that the proposed deal wouldn’t make Cunningham exclusive to Barstool. “She can start another podcast that is about something else. She can go do digital with others, the ads are being sold by other people,” he revealed.

“There’s a lot that goes on to promote a podcast. And if I don’t feel that podcaster is focused — because you have to be on making the thing huge — it’s not worth it,” he added. “I’d rather spend all that time and energy on somebody who’s like, ‘this is my dream spot where I want to be.'”
