Podcasts. They were once considered solely the realm of bros with too much free time and too many opinions; they still are, but they were once considered it, too. Thankfully, in recent years, women have discovered the joy of talking into mics about everything and nothing, especially when it comes to sports.
Kylie Kelce launched ‘Not Gonna Lie’ in December 2024, taking over the No. 1 spot on Apple Podcasts. There’s ‘Good Game with Sarah Spain’ with the veteran sports journalist.
USWNT soccer stars Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe host ‘A Touch More.’ Candace Parker has ‘Post Moves’ and Angel Reese has ‘Unapologetically Angel.’ And now, “Caitlin Clark’s Enforcer” is getting in on the game.
Sophie Cunningham Launches ‘Show Me Something’ Podcast
Front Office Sports reported on Wednesday that Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever is joining Colin Cowherd’s The Volume digital media network with ‘Show Me Something.’ Cunningham will host the show alongside reality TV star West Wilson (Bravo’s ‘Summer House’), as they’re high school friends who grew up together in Columbia, Missouri.
“It’s an exciting time for the WNBA, and we’re thrilled to grow The Volume’s portfolio with a show that celebrates women’s sports, pop culture, and friendship,” Dane Aagaard, chief revenue officer for The Volume, said in a statement to Front Office Sports.
Cunningham shared the news on Instagram. “The two link up weekly for…a fast-talking, no-rules show covering sports, pop culture, and everything in between,” read the statement.
The Volume’s current lineup includes shows like Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay,’ ‘The Draymond Green Show,’ ‘The Richard Sherman Podcast,’ ‘Angie Martinez IRL’ and ‘Daniel Cormier TV.’
Cunningham’s profile has risen in the WNBA thanks to both her association with Clarke on the Fever and a brawl that took place during the June 17 game with the Connecticut Sun.
Midway through the third quarter, Jacy Sheldon (whom Yahoo! Sports notes has been beefing with Clark since their Big Ten Days) poked Caitlin in the eye. Clark and Sheldon got into a shoving match, which prompted Sun center Tina Charles and guard Marina Mabrey to get involved.
Mabrey, Clark, and Charles received a technical foul. Sheldon earned a flagrant 1 (which the WNBA later upgraded to a flagrant 2).
In the final minutes of the game, Cunningham got revenge by pulling Sheldon down by the head. Sheldon and Sun guard Lindsay Allen then rushed Cunningham, and the fight got out of control. Sophie got ejected, Sheldon and Allen got technical fouls (and were also thrown out of the game).
The WNBA later fined Cunningham on top of the flagrant 2 foul fine. But the Fever’s fans rallied around her, and soon, Sphie’s jersey sold out in the Fever team store.
After the scuffle, David McClaine—who owns Women of Wrestling alongside Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeannie Buss—told Sports Illustrated that he “would love to have Sophie Cunningham in WOW.”
"I'm from Indiana. I'm from Indianapolis, and that's the home of not only the second-best basketball team in the country this last year, but the biggest name in professional basketball today, Caitlin Clark. And Caitlin Clark has an enforcer. She's the Marty McSorley to Wayne Gretzky, and she is a stunning athlete,” said McClane.
“I would love to have Sophie Cunningham in WOW,” he added, “because she takes down the competition, and she makes sure that Caitlin Clark is safe on the basketball floor. We’d love to have Sophie in WOW."
