The WNBA All-Star voting results were revealed this week, and while fans made Caitlin Clark the league’s No. 1 vote-getter with a record-breaking 1,293,536 votes, WNBA players weren’t nearly as generous. They ranked her as the ninth-best guard in the league.

That’s right—ninth. Even though she has only played nine games this year, to think she is the ninth-best guard in the league? That is a stretch to say the least.

It didn’t take long for Hall of Famer Dick Vitale to unleash on X after the news broke.

“Absolutely PURE JEALOUSY that the @WNBA players voted Caitlin Clark the 9th best guard. Some day they will realize what she has done for ALL the players in the WNBA—chartered planes, increase in salaries, sold out crowds, improved TV ratings.”

That sentiment has caught fire online. Clark’s arrival in the league has coincided with record-breaking numbers across the board: ticket prices, attendance, merchandise sales, and national TV ratings. And while it's true the WNBA secured a $75 million investment in 2022—before Clark’s arrival—there’s no denying she’s turbocharged the league’s visibility.

Still, some current players have bristled at her spotlight. From on-court dust-ups to what many see as overly physical treatment without foul calls, fans are starting to ask: Is Caitlin Clark being targeted?

Even tennis legend Chris Evert weighed in, suggesting Clark was being officiated differently. Online, Reddit users have drawn comparisons to a young Michael Jordan, who was famously roughed up by the “Bad Boy” Pistons before becoming untouchable.

And then there’s the ongoing friction between Clark and Angel Reese. The two continue to be viewed as rivals, with every play scrutinized and social media dissecting every glance.

What’s clear: the WNBA is in uncharted territory.

Caitlin Clark may not be willing to address it head-on, but she’s already changed the game—and that kind of spotlight tends to bring heat. Whether it’s jealousy, competitiveness, or just growing pains, the tension is real. And Dickie V? He’s just saying what a lot of fans are thinking.

To be fair to the WNBA players, Clark has only played in nine games. So, you can easily point to that as the main reason behind her voting ranking.

Which side do you think is right? Or is it somewhere in the middle of jealousy and lack of on-court time?
