As McDonald's has been collaborating with celebrities over the past couple of years to curate their signature meal with the fast food chain, it was a matter of time until they signed on an athlete of the caliber of the WNBA's Angel Reese. The Golden Arches have always had a well-documented relationship with basketball as they annually hold the 'American Games,' gathering members of the roster through high school basketball. Reese received the honor of being a McDonald's All-American back in 2020.
"It’s really a dream come true to be the first-ever female athlete to have my own meal and be a part of McDonald’s amazing basketball legacy. I hope the Angel Reese Special inspires young athletes everywhere to never give up on pursuing their dreams,"- Angel Reese
While Reese is currently participating in Unrivaled, a three-on-three women's basketball league started up by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, she finds great honor in being the first female athlete to get a signature meal with the fast food head honcho. Alongside McDonald's, Reese also graces the front of Reese's Puffs cereal boxes, checking off multiple areas of promotion for the young star. As for the meal itself, it brings a sense of flavor and spice to a traditional meal commonly ordered at a McDonald's drive-thru. The meal includes a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with cheese, fries, and a drink.
Reese continues to gain respect from her peers on and off the court as she looks to return to the WNBA for the 2025 season following a season-ending wrist injury in her debut season back in September. As mentioned earlier, Reese has already returned to the court for Unrivaled, showing that she is still able to play the game that has changed her life. The Angel Reese X McDonald's meal drops on February 10th.
