The current year may have added another badge of honor on David Beckham's chest as he was awarded a knighthood on King Charles' Birthday in June, but it hasn't done much to mend his family's tumultuous relationship with Brooklyn Beckham.

The British soccer icon's bonding with his eldest son reportedly started declining in 2022, at the beginning of Brooklyn's marriage preparations with the 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' actress, Nicola Peltz. Since then, a series of events has only pushed the two families farther apart, with recent reports saying that the 26-year-old has stopped talking to his parents, David and Victoria.

A brief description of the events that led to the rift between David and Brooklyn Beckham

A few reports from Page Six say the tension between the Beckhams and Brooklyn began from Nicola and Victoria's subtle feud related to the former's wedding apparel. Victoria, with her eponymous fashion line, wanted to design Nicola's wedding gown. However, the actress was spotted wearing a Valentino Haute Couture on the day of her wedding to Brooklyn, which reportedly agitated Victoria.

In a subsequent interview with Variety, Nicola debunked the allegations of refusing to wear Victoria's outfit because of her sumptuous background. Brooklyn's wife mentioned that Victoria's inability to make her wedding gown resulted in her picking up a different outfit.

"A few months down the line, she [Victoria] realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress," said Nicola.

Nevertheless, things got even worse at Brooklyn and Nicola's wedding reception, all thanks to the popular singer, Marc Anthony, who is known to be a longtime friend of the Beckham family. During his performance, Anthony labeled Victoria "the most beautiful woman in the room" instead of Nicola and called her up to dance with Brooklyn.

Page Six reported that this incident left the actress in tears and feeling unwilling to participate in the event as she dashed to her room. Later, her friends persuaded her to return to the party.

"Her friends were telling her, 'You have to go back down, so many people came from all over for you,'" said one of Nicola's sources. "She [Nicola] finally comes down and is sad the entire evening. She [Victoria] took that moment from Nicola."

Brooklyn's relationship with his parents took another hit in the same year when he refused to sign a contract suggested by his mother. An industry insider claimed that the contract wouldn't have harmed him in any way. Instead, it was to restrict him from getting affected by David's $269 million dollar deal for selling a majority stake in his brand management company, DB Ventures.

However, a Beckham family source said that Brooklyn had cut ties with his advisors by then and was probably misguided by Nicola's family lawyers, which propelled him to refuse signing the contract.

Brooklyn's bonding with his brothers, Cruz and Romeo, also took a hit this year following the rift in his relationship with his parents. The 26-year-old and his wife didn't bother attending David's 50th birthday party in May as Romeo was dating a model named Kim Turnbull, who was reportedly involved in a romantic relationship with Brooklyn earlier.

However, Turnbull denied having any connection with Brooklyn in the past, which indicates that the couple might have skipped David's 50th birthday celebrations due to their relationship conflicts.

Reports say that Brooklyn wished to sever his ties with the Beckham family in June this year, which was probably why the Beckhams were absent from his and Nicola's vow renewal ceremony on August 2. However, Romeo and Cruz reacted to Brooklyn's wish before their parents by unfollowing their elder brother and his wife on Instagram in July.

After unfollowing the couple, Cruz posted an array of cussing social media updates targeted towards an unspecified individual. Some of which read, "You're a fraud,” “Ur a d–k now," "F–king hell," "Instant karma gonna get you," “It had to be difficult,” "Ur dead to me," and "People notice." Nevertheless, a look at how Cruz once mocked his eldest brother's short-lived careers leaves little to the imagination.

Nobody can document how many more chapters will be added to this feud between the Beckhams and the Brooklyn-Nicole duo. However, it won't be wrong to say that the normalization of the wrecked relationship between the two parties currently seems like a pretty farfetched event.
