As Ben Shelton continues his Wimbledon journey, fans have gotten to see more of his relationship with United States Women's National Team and Washington Spirit soccer star Trinity Rodman.
The two have been together since March (or at least their relationship has been public since then) and fans have loved watching Rodman support her boyfriend during Wimbledon.
Something that hasn't been fun to witness is the Wimbledon announcers completely disrespecting Rodman.
First by calling her by the wrong name and second by mentioning her father, Dennis Rodman, who she has an estranged relationship with and has been pretty vocal about that being the case.
Rodman blasted the Wimbledon announcers on her Instagram story on Monday, noting, "For those who don't know... my name is TRINITY not Tiffany," with a crying and laughing emoji and then pivoted to the subject of her father. "Also, for Ben's matches he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad... my dads not even in MY life no need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don't even want him talked about during mine. It's him and his loved ones' moment. Thank you," and ends with a thumbs-up emoji.
Trinity Rodman blasts Wimbledon coverage for calling her the wrong name and continuing to bring up her father
Rodman has a right to be upset with the coverage. The least the broadcasters could do is call her by the correct name, which they failed to do.
It's also low-hanging fruit to continue to tie in Dennis Rodman whenever Trinity is on screen because anyone who follows her closely should know that she has a fractured relationship with the former NBA star.
While appearing on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast with Alex Cooper earlier this year, Rodman spoke about her relationship with her estranged father, and said, "He's not a dad. Maybe by blood but nothing else."
At this point, she's made it clear that she doesn't want him to continue to be referenced not only when she's playing for the Washington Spirit but especially not when her boyfriend is playing in Wimbledon. There's no reason to bring up Dennis Rodman in that situation.
Trinity Rodman was the second overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft by the Spirit, and she's spent the entirety of her pro career thereafter helping the Spirit win a title as a rookie. She also won a gold medal with the United States National Team in the 2024 Olympics.
