Reaction to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer have been wacky. Things are gonna get even wackier as everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog now has his own sneaker deal with PUMA.
The new trailer hyping up the live action adaptation of the Sonic the Hedgehog video game character has set the internet ablaze ever since it first dropped a couple days ago. The whole thing became a meme in no time and with good reason. From Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnick to Sonic looking like he got tethered in a ski ball accident was admittedly meme worthy. Well, fasten your seat belts, y’all, because the meme is literally starting to grow a life of its own.
This next sentence might make you a little dizzy so make sure you are sitting down for this one. The video game character now officially has a sneaker deal with PUMA.
Yep. You read that right. A cartoon blue hedgehog from a video game has a shoe deal. Some of your favorite rappers don’t have shoe deals. This spikey haired blue hedgehog that honestly does not even look like a hedgehog has his own shoe deal. The shoes will be modeled after the same red and white pumps that Mr. Blue Wind has been wearing ever since his video game debut in 1991.
Now, those same pumps will come to life for the viewing public to not just indulge in, but try on for size. These sneakers will be dubbed affectionately by PUMA as the PUMA Speed 500. The live action movie will be dropping in theaters officially in November and the PUMA Speed 500s are expected to drop around the same time in conjunction with their release. No news on a price tag yet, but they will release in select retail stores.
